Thoughts on lifelong learning

Sometimes I think that if I just stay in one place long enough, eventually I will know everything about it.  Of course, the truth is that if I ever got to that point, they would simply decide change everything.  So the inevitability of change makes lifelong learners of us all, especially in the workplace.  But not all learning is motivated by the survival instinct.  Some of it is just plain fun.  I learn to speak Spanish in order to communicate with those around me.  I learn to read Chinese because it is cool.
